Endoscopic Sinus Surgery
Chronic Sinusitis Treatment
If you have chronic sinusitis and have not responded well to medication or other forms of treatment, your ENT physician may recommend endoscopic sinus surgery.
Also called functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS), this minimally invasive procedure can quickly and easily remove blockages and open drainage of the sinus cavities. There is little tissue damage and no visible scarring of the area, as opposed to traditional open surgery.
The procedure utilizes an endoscope: a thin, flexible "telescope" with lighting and a camera that allows your surgeon to identify and correct any anatomical causes of obstruction in the nasal passageways. If needed, other instruments are inserted through the endoscope to treat problems on the spot.
FESS is a diagnostic and therapeutic method that is often selected by our ENT patients for help preventing and alleviating symptoms associated with chronic sinusitis, as well as other conditions that cause blocked sinus passageways.
Talk to the ear, nose, and throat surgeons at ENT & Allergy Center of Austin about whether endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) can resolve your sinus problems. For an appointment, call (512) 328-7722 or use our online form. We see patients at several locations in central Texas: Westlake, Cedar Park, or Round Rock.
